The heat breaks, the festivals stack up, and this weekend is loaded. Here is where we would go. **NOLA Funk Fest** — Friday through Sunday, Woldenberg Park (riverfront). Three days of Louisiana funk on the river. George Porter Jr. and Runnin' Pardners, Galactic with Jelly Joseph, and the Lost Bayou Ramblers backed by the Louisiana Philharmonic. Ticket prices vary by day. **Oktoberfest at Deutsches Haus** — Friday and Saturday, 1700 Moss Street. Brats, sauerkraut, giant Bavarian pretzels, and more than 20 German beers on Bayou St. John. $10 cash at the gate, kids 12 and under free. **Praise Fest** — Friday through Sunday, Bayou St. John. Three free days of gospel on the bayou. Hand-clapping, foot-stomping, and some of the best voices in the city, all free to attend. **Boo at the Zoo** — Friday through Sunday, Audubon Zoo, 6500 Magazine Street. Trick-or-treating, games, and Halloween fun built for the kids, inside one of the prettiest zoos in the country. **Crescent City Chamber Music Festival** — Friday and Sunday, free. Free concerts all month. Friday at the UNO Performing Arts Center recital hall, Sunday at St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church. **Pilobolus** — Saturday, 7:30 PM, Mahalia Jackson Theater. The athletic, shape-shifting dance company returns for one night only. Tickets from $42. **Wooden Boat Festival** — Saturday and Sunday, Madisonville. Worth the Causeway drive: classic wooden boats, live music, food, and a small-town riverfront at its best. Sunday Saints watch. The Saints are in New York to play the Giants, Sunday at noon CT on FOX, with Drew Brees in the broadcast booth. Find a porch, a bar, or a couch. Save the date: **Krewe of Boo**, the city's official Halloween parade, rolls Saturday, October 24 in the French Quarter. Weekends like this are exactly why people move here, and why the ones who leave keep coming back.
